One of the original ideas, a jazzmaster based p90 body with mustang style control and trem.

Rough mock up

Rough mock up
I decided to go with a strat trem, the longer scale means less space at the back. Plus a strat trem is very consistent. I bought an old Squier strat (CBS style) neck on ebay. It is well worn and needs a bit of work, but the standard Squier necks are pretty good and I like the feel.

Finshed

So I've finished the cosmetics and the wiring seemed okay.
Then I tried shielding and not knowing what I'm doing, created some kind of earthing/grounding hum/buzz.
In process of searching that out and putting it right.
It seems that as soon as I reach the end, the whole thing begins to start wearing. I've made a few little dings in the body, couple of scratches and a chip. I guess the laquer isn't as hard as a production guitar.
Plus if I'm honest, it'll be nice just to see how it wears with age. As long as it sounds and feels good, that's all that matters.
Don't want to get precious about the looks.
But I do think it looks good.
It weirdly can look very blue in some light, but mostly it's a greeny turquoise. I am putting chicken head knobs on and already thinking about whether to upgrade the neck.
Perhpas this (first) build will by it's very nature, constantly change.
I think i have the building bug. Just wish i had the money/time to match it.
